Weight-Conscious Pick
A traditional option for lighter, filling meal planning.
Horse Gram Powder is made from dry-roasted kollu (horse gram) ground with cumin, black pepper, red chillies and curry leaves into a dense, slightly bitter rice powder with a strong, distinctive aroma. Kollu is the highest-protein legume grown in Tamil Nadu and has been used in Siddha medicine for centuries — traditionally associated with weight management, metabolic health and joint support. The prepared powder is mixed with hot rice and sesame oil, or thinned with hot water into a simple rasam-style drink. The flavour is assertive — earthy, slightly tangy and not suited for those unfamiliar with kollu. Mrs. Esakkiammal prepares it in small batches at Iyarkai Pantry. The 100g pack makes 8–12 servings. No preservatives, artificial flavours or colours. Store airtight. Customers already familiar with kollu rasam will recognise the flavour immediately.
